101 Dalmatians Weekly Reflection: 8

SET PROGRESSION

This week we had seen a real development in the set progression for our show. All the decks had been painted with paw prints on them, the Baddens had their motor bike which they needed to practise with, the flats and house set had been finished. This made a big difference for us as actors as it meant that we could see what we were really working with and helped us get into character. This also meant that props could be practised with too so the show ran smoother, an example of this was Cruella with her fur coats.

COSTUME

We all now have all our costume for the show. There are so many hats the same and different so it is very important that the actors look after all of their costume bits.

My Costumes:

  • Nanny – my costume for the nanny was different to the other nanny’s one. It was similar to the Disney one buy the pinny and bonnet hat. However it was very similar to Mary Poppins as it had a red bow, blue and white stripped shirt and long blue skirt.

  • Narrator – the girl narrators have cream woolly jumpers with black trousers which were big enough to move around in. Also they were simple so that with different hats on the costume did not deter from the purpose of the hat.

  • Puppy – the costume for the puppies was the narrator costume plus a Dalmatian hat. The hats were reversible so that on side looked like a dalmatian and the other looked like a dalmatian covered in soot. All actors wore jazz shoes too.

  • Yorkshire Terrier – for this costume we added a knitted hat that looked like our named dog, ours was a Yorkshire Terrier. Mine had a bow on it to because my name was Venom so it was a contrast between my name and character. Also we still had the same narrators costume on too.

NEW NANNY SONG

This week we finally sorted a nanny song for the show. It was a bit short notice but it is worth doing. The place were it will be added is just after the puppy TV scene so there is more of a relationship between the nanny and the puppies. Initially I was the only Nanny that wanted to sing the song but after giving it a go she decided that she would speak sing it. The puppies added in a “woof woof woof” to compliment to beat of the song. Also it has a lot of funny aspects in it too so the audience can see the comedic side of the character unfold.
